Wojciech Has, the director of The Saragossa Manuscript, died on
Tuesday, 3 October 2000, at the age of 75.
Andrzej Wajda said:
His death is one of the saddest things that recently happened in Polish cinema.
Despite the powerful influence of the Polish school of film, he has remained the
ultimately independent director.
The Saragossa Manuscript is perhaps the most original film ever produced in Polish cinema.
