About the Faculty

The Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Technical Science provides a high level of education within the broadest possible range of fields of study and specializations, preparing highly qualified specialists. The teaching mission is carried out in four fields: Mathematics, Physics, Information Technology Education, and Computer Science (first- and second-cycle degree studies), conducted on a full-time and part-time basis for over a thousand students, doctoral studies (Physics and Mathematics), postgraduate studies and educational programmes that are launched according to the needs of the labour market. Following the requirements of modern higher education, and in order to create the possibility of personal development in students’ own path of education, programmes in a modular system have been prepared. The educational activity of the Faculty considers the pedagogical character of the University and its traditions in the education of teachers and conducting research in the field of education. The academic achievements and research conducted at the highest world level are the strengths of the faculty. Thanks to funds obtained from the EU, modern laboratories (e.g. lasers, Mössbauer spectroscope, dielectric physics, surface physics, neurodidactics, modern computational cluster) have been launched. Also, the high achievements of the Astronomical Observatory of the Pedagogical University of Cracow on Mount Suhora in the classification of astronomical units are worth noting.
